Coastal Ghost Music proudly releases Tom DeVoursney’s latest CD “Where the Blue Sky Meets the Sea”.
Tom brings a fresh and experienced style to Trop-Rock and the rebirth of beach life. A life that feeds the soul and spirit. Songs that not only share the hard knocks of experience but also celebrates the goodness of life. A one take studio cut with Chris Clarke on Bass and Stanley Watson on Drums, just the way we play it live. In writing this record, in concept, it was of course beachy and a story of starting a new life while dealing with the old one.
The musicality of the songs are acoustic guitar centered, driven by the rhythms of the drums and percussions with very present melodic bass lines. In “Where the Blue Sky Meets the Sea” and “That Devil Slick”, we wanted that Jason Mraz Trop-Rock groove with good full open cord acoustic guitar. “Divorce Rehab” is that Memphis Delbert/Elvis vibe. “A Breather” lets me go back to my Duane Allman/Derek and the Dominos slide guitar roots. “Sophia” is my acoustic romantic escape and the love of my life. “Till the bottom Drops” is that folk rock Stephen Stills style I love. “The Thrift Store” a little Arlo Guthrie story song with a touch of Hank Sr. “Over My Head into My Heart” mainstream Nashville, whether they know it or not, with good harmonies. “Livin the Good Life Now” a bit of Waylon Jennings/Allman Bros. that is pure rockin fun, with Shannon Wallace on the electric guitar. “Simple Act of Kindness” is bluegrass, gospel, country, and pop all rolled up into one song.
